AEW ALL OUT REVIEW

- Kelvin Kately, Senior Editor

I waited to write this because I wanted to be sure. I wanted to be sure that AEW All Out was being talked about in the same way that I felt after watching it. Very few times have I watched the beginning of a PPV and thought to myself “This feels like something big is about to happen." From the very beginning of that PPV, that feeling was evident. It just felt like something was in the air.

This PPV was so good that I can’t give you match by match commentary. It would be an injustice to all the performers to speak on individual matches and give them opinions. To give you an idea of how good this was, my wife is not a wrestling fan. I am normally shunned for watching the shows and cautioned on budget concerns with the PPVs. She sat with me to talk, as she normally does, during WIllow Nightingale vs Kris Statlander. She soon stopped talking and became invested. By the end of that match, her exact words were “holy crap, that was intense.” By the end of Swerve vs Hangman, she finished the PPV, she admitted that she was entertained by what she saw. This… this is why that PPV may be on a short list for my PPV of the year.

However you slice it, AEW All Out felt like a sign of things to come. Whether it was the crowd, the presentation, the matches or the storytelling, it seemed like everything clicked for AEW. And that is a great sign for them. This was what they needed.

Two things I do want to mention that was really cool for me. The pre-show featured a lot of the match types and matchups we saw in Arlington. It was great to know that Chicago loved it every bit as much as Arlington. I would love to see some of those stories on TV as well. Second, the media scrum was short and sweet. It was different, and it spoke volumes for what we saw. We didn’t get any performers, and for good reason. Well done on both fronts.

I look forward to Wednesday, as this Dynamite is a must watch. I absolutely need to see the fallout from this. For now, AEW All Out 2024 is a huge success.
