LINKIN PARK IS BACK!!
- Rob Crowther, Editor In Chief
After seven long years, Linkin Park is finally back. Mike Shinoda and co. returned to the stage during a livestream concert with some new members including front woman, Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara, and Colin Brittain (drummer/producer) on drums. Armstrong took the stage to take on a seemingly thankless job of replacing the late, great Chester Bennington in a solid performance that forever will be bittersweet.
The band pre-empted the livestream concert with a bit of a social media trail of clues, featuring count downs, flashing images, and even a counter going back up. At 6pm EST, the new look Linkin Park took the statge opening with their new single "The Emptiness Machine" and performing an over 60 minute set of classic LInkin Park favorites.
Armstrong did a solid job of hitting the high notes, and signature screams of Bennington but really found herself with the fullness of the backing vocals of the band. After the fifth or sixth song, particularly "Waiting For The End" , Armstrong found her groove. Nearly a flawless performance as well by new drummer Colin Brittain, who took the place of LP original member Rob Bourdon, who apparently declined to rejoin the band.
Following the exciting live performance, Shinoda announced that there will be a new album entitled "From Zero", (a call back to the original band name Xero) a new music video (above) , and a select few tour dates out of the gate, only two within the United States in LA and NYC.
