NXT VENGEANCE DAY REVIEW
- Kelvin Kately, Senior Editor
WWE NXT Vengeance Day 2025 delivered a compelling evening of wrestling action. The event featured several high-profile matches, with notable outcomes and performances. The audience in our nation’s capital was treated to, in my opinion, a pivotal moment in NXT history. This event should be a moment in time that you can come back to and reference in the future. Here is our recap!

NXT Women’ s North American Championship Match
Stephanie Vaquer captured the title from Fallon Henley in a match that was the perfect choice to kick off the PLE! I’ve followed Vaquer since she showed up at AEW’s Forbidden Door. I’m calling this now. This woman is going to be a MAJOR player going forward. These ladies put on one hell of a match and this could have easily been Fallon Henley’s win to talk about. I think this match was a showcase of both women’s technical prowess, toughness and will to win. Great start!

NXT Tag Team Championship Match
Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom) successfully defended their titles against Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura. Match. Of. The. Night. I’m a sucker for pure explosive power. Inamura gave me that and more. I haven’t seen a lot of him, but the impact he had on this match makes me want to see more. I actually was wondering why he was in this match and story. I thought we should have had a TNA matchup here since they had been heavily involved. But, I definitely got the “FAFO” treatment and was not mad at it! The aftermath saw the masked stable come out and beat down everyone. I’m reminded of Retribution. I’ll leave that there.

Strap Match
Eddy Thorpe emerged victorious over Trick Williams in a highly physical match that pushed both men to their absolute limit. I’ll ask the question: WHY is Trick Williams not on the main roster yet!? I like what this match did for Eddy Thorpe. Being able to pull the beast out of Trick is a feat in and of itself. He comes out of this match looking like a guy ready to challenge Oba Femi. But, Trick left me with the impression that he needs the challenge. Please throw him in the ocean with the sharks. He thrives there.

However, I couldn’t help but feel like Trick is wearing out his welcome in NXT. I know moving him up right now is dangerous, but this guy has been swimming with the sharks since he’s been in WWE. I’m selfish, I know.

Singles Match
Ethan Page defeated JeVon Evans in another beautifully violent bout that made me love the ending. JeVon coming in at less than 100% was a beautiful set up for Ethan Page to take advantage of. JeVon’s resilience and heart kept him in the match as long as he could, but one shot abruptly ended the match, as it should have. This feud has legs and I’m here for it. The match was a solid addition to the card, providing a brief yet engaging contest.

NXT Championship Triple Threat Match
Oba Femi retained his championship by defeating Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. I recently commented that the Flamingo King Branden Vice made a great decision. He chose championships over friendships. This match is a classic reason why. Two friends are in a weird position because they both want a championship that neither of them have. No man was really willing to see the other in a winning predicament. The result is the one that has the title ended up keeping the title. It will make things more awkward between them. Although, the masked men coming out after the match and attacking Oba has placed him in a situation that we haven’t really seen him in: vulnerable.

NXT Women’s Championship Fatal Four-Way Match
Champion Giulia successfully defended her title against Bayley, Roxanne Perez, and Cora Jade. I loved this match so much. The pacing and intensity throughout the match kept me on edge. The threat to Giulia’s title run was ever present. But, she proved that she is clever and more than capable of leading this class of the women's division. Also, Can we please rename the Northern Lights Bomb back to The Snowplow!? Wishful thinking but that was one of my favorite finishers ever!.

Post-Match
The event concluded with champions Giulia and Vaquer side by side in a stunning visual, holding up their titles, only to be confronted by Jordynne Grace! This set the stage for potential future rivalries, adding an intriguing layer to NXT’s women’ s division. Ladies and gents, I think we have three of our new four horsewomen! Families will be fed.

Overall Assessment
NXT Vengeance Day 2025 was a well-executed event that showcased the depth of talent within NXT! The matches were engaging, with strong storytelling and great in-ring performances. The follow up will be must see, as we have so much to look forward to.
