THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS: GAUNTLET OF DOOM

Three games in 11 days in insane. It’s even more ridiculous when it’s against the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens and then finally the defending Super Bowl champions, in the Kansas City Chiefs. Did I expect a win all 3 games ? Of course not. Did I expect to even win two of the three ? No I didn’t. Did I expect to make every game a war zone and keep the games close…well, yes. But unfortunately, that didn’t happen either...

 

Let’s start off with Philly. We haven’t beaten Philly in the city of brotherly love since 1965. We just can’t beat the Eagles in their own city. Just doesn’t ever happen for whatever reason, but this game was embarrassing, the Eagles had their way with the Steelers. We didn’t have our star WR George Pickens, so that didn’t help. He’s our only home room hitter on offense, without him, we don’t have a deep ball threat. The Eagles won 27-13 

 

Now it’s time for our biggest rivalry and a team we beat a couple weeks ago. If we beat them we lock up the NFC north ! So could we sweep Baltimore ? No. Instead the ravens once again made us look stuck in the past and made us look primitive on offense. We lost 34-17 

 

Now this really got to me as a Pittsburgh Steelers die hard fan. This game had all the potential to be a defensive game. But just like the past month, the defense didn’t show up on Christmas at all. This game was EMBARRASSING. KC hasn’t scored 30 points all year, but they got close on us by putting up 29 points. Oh, and they missed an extra point so technically the 30 was there, but their own mistake cost them. We lost 29-10 .

 

That’s 3 BAD LOSSES in a row and our offense has taken a major step backwards. Our defense has also gone from 6th overall earlier in the season to a lousy 24th overall. 

 

I get it, the Steelers have the hardest schedule in the league. 

 

Facing the Eagles, Ravens and Chiefs in 11 days is INSANITY 

 

No one could make it through that gauntlet. But we weren’t even being competitive during some of these games. 

 

Yes, GP was hurt for two of the three And it’s okay to lose but get your defense back on track, because that’s a travesty. 

 

I see so many other Steeler fans acting like these losses don’t matter because we have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs. Simply put, this is embarrassing.

 

This team is going to get sent home in the first round AGAIN.

 

Being proud to be make the playoffs IS NOT THE STEELER WAY 

 

We were used to winning SUPERBOWLS. Now a bunch of fans are just happy to be in the playoffs every year. Tell me you don’t remember the old Steeler way or aren’t old enough to remember the SB years with out telling me…

 

It’s great that we kept Tomlins streak alive.18 years with out a losing record but at the end of the day,we keep ending up in EXACTLY THE SAME SITUATION AS THE YEAR BEFORE. ONE AND DONE. 

 

So stop being dishonest with yourself with The Steelers, just because they’re your team. They are my team and I can ADMIT THINGS NEED TO BE WORKED ON AND CHANGED.Or we will BE OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND AGAIN….AND AGAIN….AND AGAIN. 

 

We have one more game for the season against the Cincinnati Bengals. This almost feels like a must win to go into the playoffs with any momentum.
