STEELERS WEEK 7 RECAP
- Tyler Yasembousky, Contributor
The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New York Jets last week before taking on The New York Giants earlier this week. The Giants are obviously the more successful franchise between the two New York teams. It’s very comparable to The Yankees and Mets. What do both teams have in common besides playing in New York ? Losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers!
The wasn’t much offense in this game for a long while. There were six field goals in this game and a 9-9 score during halftime. This would change in the third quarter when Calvin Austin would return a punt return 73 yards for the touchdown!
The Pittsburgh Steelers special teams unit has been dominant in the last month
• 2 blocked field goals
• Blocked extra point
• Blocked punt
• Punt return touchdown
•. 12 for 12 on field goal attempts
Calvin Austin’s incredible performance would continue when he would catch the first touchdown catch of the game.
The giants would finally score a touchdown themselves on a 45 yard touchdown run from tyrone Tracy Jr
Both teams would add another FG to the score.
The Giants would have the ball last and have a chance to tie the game (with a successful two point conversion) But per usual, TJ Watt would come up in a huge moment with a strip sack, winning the game for the Pittsburgh Steelers 26-18
The Steelers are now 6-2 and in first place of the AFC north. They have won 22 straight Monday night football games at home. The longest streak in NFL history. The Steelers will now head into their bye week.
