S..T..E..J...STEJ..STEJ..STEJ!!
- Tom Mele, Contributor
Prior to the season finale for the 2024 season the Jets reminded their fans and everyone else in the NFL this was one of the worst seasons in NFL history. The 30-yard-long banner that in unfurled before every home game was upside down.
S..T..E..J STEJ STEJ STEJ
Somewhere Fireman Ed is shaking his head in disgust.
The Jets defeated the Miami Dolphins 32-20 as Aaron Rodgers threw for a season high 4 touchdowns (including breaking the 500 TD pass plateau). I wonder how many fans were really satisfied deep down. Can we truly celebrate today's win when this team was a preseason favorite to make the Super Bowl?
We are paying customers. We buy tickets to the game and use our valuable time on Sunday to watch at home or a sports bar. I myself was offered to attend today's game for free and I vehemently said "NO". Those fans that braved the cold, we thank you and admire your unconditional love. I have a forum on the BCP plus that allows expression of our disappointment and dissatisfaction with Gang Green and hopefully this will help in your grief this offseason.
Let's Start.
CJ Mosely. Restructured Contract. Limited action again on the field. The captain played only four games.
Not counting the year he canceled due to COVID, Mosley has been hurt more than he plays, and the Jets rewarded him with more money.
Aaron Rodgers. Thank you for running onto the field with the American Flag last year in week one of 2023. It was a great moment and the only moment we will truly ever remember fondly of you. That is two years down the drain.
Hasson Reddick. Thank you for holding out and "holding the Jets hostage" and then performing like trash on the field of play. Don't believe me? Look at the statistics.
Mike Williams and Allen Lazard and Davante Adams. All three wide receivers underperformed and instead of helping the progress of our prized young WR Garrett Wilson, he may want out of the organization now as these last two years have gone backwards for him.
Greg Zuerlein. I had you as the MVP of 2023. This year you were rewarded with a new contract and you stunk. More FG misses than any other NFL kicker. Thank you.
The Jets were not short on drama which for all you youngsters out there used to mean more newspapers were sold, but unlike those Bronz Zoo teams of the 70's Yankees or the Lakers teams of the 90's the drama didn't produce any championships and no championships for a franchise whose fan base is just looking for a playoff berth means frustration and eventually indifference, which is even worst.
The coach was fired a few games into the season and then the GM was let go. Trades were made during the season and concessions on holdouts and for what? A dismal 5-12 season with the future clouded as the lack of flexibility in the salary cap for the next few years and fewer draft picks will hinder the rebuild or reset.
